The Park Medical Group Donates $2000 To Pascack Valley Meals On Wheels

Medical Practice Raises Funds and Awareness as Part of Its Annual December Giving Program

December 18, 2009; Harrington Park, NJ — Today The Park Medical Group donated $2,000.00 to Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels. Dr. Stephen Brunnquell and Dr. Gerald Lee presented Jeanne Martin, Director of Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels, with a check in the practice’s Harrington Park offices. The medical practice selected the organization for its December Giving program. The program is designed to give back to the community and residents by helping local organizations raise funds and awareness.

“We are very grateful to The Park Medical Group for this donation. Due to the economic crisis, many of our clients have been unable to pay for their food,” said Jeanne Martin, Director of Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels. Martin also noted, “Very often our seniors cannot pay for the meals themselves, so relatives, like adult sons and daughters, pay for them. Over the last year, we’ve been noticing even they are unable to pay the $7.10 for two daily meals.”

In addition to the donation, physicians and staff from the medical practice also donated their time to deliver meals to the program’s clients. Dr. Gerald Lee delivered a meal to Harrington Park resident Pauline Vaglio. Mrs. Vaglio, 87, no longer drives and is unable to shop for herself. She’s been receiving Meals on Wheels for two and a half years. “It was gratifying to help the Meals on Wheels program,” said Dr. Lee. “As a physician, I was very glad to be delivering a healthy, well-balanced meal to Mrs. Vaglio. Organizations like Meals on Wheels are ensuring that seniors’ nutritional needs are being met, even when they are home-bound.” In addition to his practice at The Park Medical Group, Dr. Lee is also the Director of Korean Services at the Buckingham, a nursing home in Norwood.
